Introduction: Welcome to the Mesa Science Initiative. We are working to rebuild the Black Mesa Roleplay that Heartbit once had, however with various changes and hoping to evolve on it. We want to focus on the passive roleplay, the interaction with others and true experience of what Black Mesa would've really been like. (Instead of doing a resonance cascade each week!) Community Background: Our Community, built from the scraps of what was left from Munition Gaming ages ago that took the lead before anyone else in an attempt to revive the Black Mesa Serious Roleplay. We have managed to work out various problems we have had in the past and attempt to solve them this time around. (However, we still have one problem and that is the lack of Staff members, it is only me and Robert at the moment. Yet, I wouldn’t class it as a major server, I know bigger servers that handle just fine with 2 staff members online at their busiest times.) This is a fresh start and a new beginning for the community. Factions: Security: The Security force is one of the five main factions in the Schema. Their main purpose is keeping the personnel at the facility safe and secure from each other. Keeping the law in check and rules around the facility in order. Their main job, on a day to day basis tends to be manning the various reception desks, escorting people through areas which contain higher-clearances than they currently have and dealing with the many issues that happen around the facility. (Issues could range from a scientist getting mad at another leading to a physical altercation to a covert agent attempting to enter the facility and steal technology for their company.) Scientists: This is once more one the five main factions in the Schema. Their main purpose is research and development. We have re-organised our departments from last time and this time Research and Development is now a combined thing, where all scientists take part in. Instead you got the 3 standard departments: Physics Chemistry Biology Physics with their own guide (in game, in a book - We also plan to let the Head of Chemistry and Biology write their own guide once these positions are occupied - if they do not wish to do so either myself or Robert are willing to produce guides for these departments), which details a general overview of them for the players. So they get an understanding of what the department does and can therefore select their department. It also gives them an idea on what they could do in order to carry out their own role-play, instead of having to wait for a project lead or a higher ranking scientist. Maintenance: Once more, one of the five main factions in the Schema. They serve a similar function to Security though rather than focusing on the personnel they focus on the safety and security of the building itself. Items breaking down, computers/server crashes, keeping the facility clean and safe for the personnel working in the Black Mesa Facility. (However, we do not currently have a working Computer system). Chef: The Chef’s are part of the five main factions in the Schema. Their job is to keep the employees fed and satisfied. They run the canteen and are crucial to a working facility, as hungry staff is never a good concept! (Yes, we do have a Hunger Plugin. If no Chef’s are online you can go to your local snack/vending machine!) Medical: The Medical Faction is the last of the 5 main factions in the Schema. These are crucial due to the illnesses that spread in the facility. Of course being a science facility, illnesses should be sorted out immediately, due to contamination and hygiene. These have been the 5 main factions, there are other factions of-course. But are locked behind a whitelist, either due to not being finished or are event factions. Description of the roleplay: We aim to have a more logical and realistic view on Black Mesa. Instead of having a resonance cascade every week or fortnight, we want to have a Black Mesa that makes sense, that keeps to its passive role-play as a focus and main priority. We have planned to never have a resonance cascade, until the very last moments of the server. However, there are other events! We plan to have the larger more combative and action events on a less regular frequency than events like Health Inspections or Covert Agents. Yet, as I said above, we wish to focus on passive role-play above all else. Focus on what Black Mesa was made for, the role-play and interaction of the players.
