you seem that way is all B)
Pretty much sums up all of my religious biases whenever I make my reviews.
If you're making another server, make sure there's nothing pornographic about it, or you might get a visit from the known RP puritan.
inb4 creates nsfw channel just to get a review but nobody has teh special role required to post there so it's just blank/not even nsfw
why can't you horny fucks just keep it separate smh, people always accusing me of doing ERP in servers just because i'm a furfag and yet little johnny there is doing it after school
Because you're a furry, duh.
But in all seriousness, the reasoning for why people have NSFW sections on their community discords/forums is pretty simple... it's a community, and if that community is of adult age, and the audience is majority mature in a sense that they aren't bothered/don't care about porn or whatever else as it doesn't offend their morals, they see no reason in "keeping it separate." If you're referring to actual ERP, that's a separate issue, mainly stemming in my experience from lacking relationships IRL and using it as a sad substitute. However, they concentrate on RP servers because... well, it's a form of roleplay, however offended by it you may be, and from their point of view it's just roleplay as any other.
All that being said, don't confuse ERP with having an NSFW section... before the fiasco that was all this drama my server discord had an NSFW section despite banning ERP from the server.
I don't get it, why cry about NSFW section that probably does not relate to the server itself, I mean if the community wants it let it be?
My thoughts exactly. It's just that a lot of C16 people are very heavily, shall we say, objecting, to anything they dislike. In this case, Pistol P and many of his followers/friends share a mindset that an NSFW section is, in itself, cancerous. I suspect they may have developed this belief after seeing the one on UWG, as I got zero complaints from anybody with the NSFW section present on my servers, and most of what was posted there was D4nk Meme$ and stupid shit anyway.
NSFW may be cancer, but still I think discord shouldn't effect UWG, all I know in history that they had a guy called Drpepper10 who was posting childporn on the old version of UWG.
Complete troll yeah, but just clarifying history. Here's the thing, the Owner didn't wanna ban him at the time.
true enough, but is it ever "necessary"? there should be no need to waste time to add it in simply because some manchildren need to wack off to their lolicon on the discord; the community's discord should not be the place where they do that. it's a discord for your gaming community, and not a safe space for their fetishes.
if they were just using it to spam D4nk Meme$ and nothing actually nsfw, doesn't that in and of itself explain to you how unnecessary it is?
It’s un-necessary, that’s it. There’s no hidden reason to the hatred of an NSFW channel. It makes your community look bad and, as someone said before, if you can’t enforce a quality standard or the rules of your community and rather just try to give the players more cringe content or “containment rooms” to have to avoid administrating then your server is weak as fuck. There’s no attraction that a NSFW channel can bring. It’s just another con to add to your community.
EDIT: Keep in mind I’m talking about UWG, I don’t know what your community is like, but the lesson goes that NSFW channels are stupid concepts both ways.
I'm aware you're talking about UWG, I just believe that a mature gaming community, which is what I want, should include an NSFW section. Not everything in NSFW is going to be porn. It might also be racist or other such things that are, due to the political climate, not safe for work. And before you say more about administration -- I don't want to censor people, I don't believe in that. Just because a community is a gaming community doesn't mean it can't extend into other areas as well. For example, C16 has a video games board for general video game discussion, despite it being a forum for a company to sell and discuss its' products. Why is that needed? Why is there a shitposting section, the Hall of Shame? Does C16 have a "weak" administration? It's also not about it being unnecessary, it's about having the facility. For example, a school doesn't necessarily need an athletic field. It can go rent one from a recreational center. It may not even use the field every single day, so it's unnecessary. Why do they have it then? So it's there should they need it, or want to use it. In that sense, the NSFW section serves the same purpose. Also, building a gaming community is more than just a game. If people aren't allowed to discuss topics freely in one area, they'll go to other areas to discuss them. I'd rather players on the server, if talking in discord while they play, be on the server's discord. If that means providing them with forums to discuss things beyond the technical scope of the server, so be it. It helps keep people active within your community. A single section for discussion beyond the scope of a community doesn't define the community -- it builds upon it in some ways.
Also, to use UWG's saying... if you don't like it, DON'T CLICK ON IT!
Mature communities can keep their NSFW on PornHub, not a dedicated channel. That's a lazy solution to players posting unwanted content. Adding an NSFW section simply is enabling the problem further.
vexus summed it up. it's not a mob mentality of 'hating something we don't like', it's just knowing what's sensible and what's not
I've been playing UWG for a little while. A solid server so far. Only a few small flaws.
UWG dropped any NSFW related sections on discord and ERP is banned; the people these things attract and the toxic responses from all sides is simply too much to even try to allow these thing. Good riddance. The whole last section of his review is outdated and not true to UWG's standard.
Shill world gaming...
New review when?
come on fellas. let's be a little more subtle here.
